Message Antony on WhatsAppShadow Health and iHuman are the two most widely used virtual patient simulation platforms in US nursing education. Both platforms require students to conduct realistic patient interviews, perform physical assessments and document clinical findings — all scored automatically by the system. Getting a high score requires knowing exactly which questions to ask, which examination techniques to perform and how to document findings using the correct medical terminology.
Our library covers all 35 virtual patients across both platforms — including all 12 Tina Jones modules, the full suite of focused exam patients and the four iHuman case studies most commonly assigned in MSN and BSN programs. Every assessment in our collection is A-grade verified, meaning it achieved a score of 85% or higher on the actual Shadow Health or iHuman platform before being added to the library.
Tina Jones is a 28-year-old African American woman with Type 2 diabetes, hypertension and asthma. She is the primary Shadow Health patient used in BSN programs at GCU, STU, Chamberlain and dozens of other universities. The 12 modules cover every major body system — from her initial Health History intake through Cardiovascular, Respiratory, Gastrointestinal, HEENT, Musculoskeletal, Neurological, Mental Health, Skin, Abdominal, Comprehensive, and Discharge Planning assessments.
Students often underestimate Tina Jones because each module appears self-contained. In reality, her chronic conditions create cross-system findings that the simulation expects you to connect. For example, her uncontrolled diabetes (HbA1c 10.1) affects her cardiovascular risk profile, her wound healing and her neurological exam findings — students who miss these connections lose significant points across multiple modules.
Beyond Tina Jones, Shadow Health assigns focused exam patients that each present with a specific acute condition. Heather Powell presents with chest pain suggestive of acute coronary syndrome. Danny Rivera presents with abdominal pain consistent with appendicitis. Brian Foster presents with suicidal ideation and requires a thorough mental health assessment including PHQ-9, Columbia Protocol and safety planning. The five maternity patients — Jennifer Wu, Naomi Adebayo, Gloria Hernandez, Daanis LaFontaine and Luna Morales — cover gestational diabetes, preeclampsia, postpartum care, uncomplicated delivery and non-reassuring fetal status.
iHuman cases are commonly assigned in MSN programs, particularly at Walden University, Capella and other graduate-level nursing schools. Unlike Shadow Health, iHuman emphasises differential diagnosis and clinical reasoning — students must build and rank a differential, justify their diagnostic workup and select appropriate management plans. Our library includes James Monsoor, Jennifer Lee, James Adams and Lisa Park, each verified at 90%+ on the iHuman platform.
